Tomriland Enigma S293 (pictured above) from Dermot Lynch & Josephine Byrne, Tomriland, Laragh, Co. Wicklow is this year’s recipient of the annual Irish Aberdeen-Angus Leinster provincial trophy. One of the most prestigious trophies on the whole showing calender, this title is awarded to the best Aberdeen-Angus animal in the entire Leinster province. The award was presented at the Tinahely summer show last August.

The winning bull was born in February 2016 and is sired by the stock bull, Mogeely Lord Hugh M204 who is a son of the former All-Ireland Aberdeen-Angus champion, Wedderlie Blackbox J935. He is out of Fordel Esmercia H395, a Netherton Figo C244 daughter and is a five star index bull on terminal and replacement traits.

As well as his successes in the show ring, this bull was also hand-picked to represent the breed at the three day National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore in September and recently secured the reserve male championship at the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Premier Autumn sale at Carrick-on-Shannon, before selling for €3500.

As well as these notable successes, the Tomriland Aberdeen-Angus herd also secured a 1st prize win in the small section of the 2017 Connaught/Leinster Aberdeen-Angus club herds competition to cap a memorable year for this small but very select herd from Ireland’s garden county.
