The Clonmel Show has seen an increased entry in the Aberdeen-Angus section over the last few years, boosted in part by the attractive total prize fund of over €1000 which is on offer across four individual classes. Several new exhibitors were in attendance for this year’s show and it was Eustace & Deirdre Burke, Ballyginnane, Carrigaline, Co. Cork who emerged victorious on the day, taking the overall supreme breed championship with Clontead Jane R177. The champion heifer, born in January 2015 is one of the first progeny of the recently introduced Jane cow family and is a daughter of Goulding Extra, long standing stock bull at the Clontead herd.

Standing in the reserve championship spot were Keith & Caroline Vickery, Carbery Farm, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork with their heifer calf, Carbery Nicole. This calf has won several 1st prizes on the Munster circuit this summer and is sired by Goulding Jumbo King.
