The past two weeks has seen the end of popular TV series, Game of Thrones, which has gripped the nation for over 6 years, with everyone finally discovering who the rightful ruler of Westeros was! (Don’t worry, no spoilers incoming).
Game of Thrones aside, it has been a busy few weeks here in the office with the Balmoral Show, NBA Beef Expo and the Carlisle Show and Sale all taking place – we look forward to reporting on all of these events as they happen! Take a look at what’s been happening in and around the Society over the last 14 days.

We’ve brought you all the live results from Carlisle Spring Show & Sale today as they’ve happened, with a full round-up available on our Show and Sales news page. We look forward to bringing you a full report early next week.

The annual Bandon Show took place in Co Cork where the Aberdeen-Angus entry was up on previous years with all 9 classes in the Aberdeen-Angus section very well supported. The supreme Aberdeen-Angus championship, under show judge Michael Horan, was awarded to Albert & Jennifer DeCogan, Killamuckey, Castlemartyr, Co Cork with their senior stock bull, Cheeklaw Jake Eric R535.

The May sale at Carrick-On-Shannon saw a very healthy demand for Aberdeen-Angus bulls. Almost 100 Aberdeen-Angus bulls were catalogued for sale at Carrick-On-Shannon for one of the final sales of the Spring season. The day’s sale leader, Clooncarne Rocket bred by Thomas Mulligan and Family from Currycramp, Dromod, Co Leitrim sold for €4600 to a dairy herd in Co Sligo.

The Drumcrow Aberdeen-Angus herd of Frank & Margaret McKiernan, Drumcrow, Corlismore, Co Cavan provided the overall sale topper in the Aberdeen-Angus ring at the multi-breed bull sales at Kilkenny. The top priced bull, Drumcrow Pontiac T717 was born in December 2017 and was out of Drumcrow Princess Jewel J363 who is a daughter of Coldstream Genetic Trend 80F and sold for a top price of €2750.

At a chilly first show of the Summer season, Temple Lolly Pop became judge of the day Jimmy McMillan’s Champion of the Aberdeen-Angus classes at the North Somerset Show.

Shadwell Evolution was the interbreed champion at the South Suffolk Show. The show was greatly supported in the Suffolk area with 5 Angus exhibitors and 15 angus on show.

The Nightingale Angus Herd is having a major reduction of all saleable stock privately on the farm as a whole or in lots – for more information check the stock for sale section of our website!

We’ve received some great entries so far for our Spring Photo Competition run on our Facebook channel! We encourage as many members to get involved, all you have to do is submit your photos in the comment section of the Facebook post or alternatively email Michael.chan@denvirmarketing.com with your photos.
