BEEF EXPO 2008 (and Irish Aberdeen-Angus tour) is the first major international conference and show of pedigree beef cattle to be held in Ireland. On October 11th and 12th, 2008 the best of Ireland’s beef breeders will take part in a unique event that will demonstrate the exciting advancements in Irish cattle genetics in the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny.- You are invited to view the livestock, talk directly with their breeders and visit the associated trade exhibition that will include the main AI companies active in Ireland. All are keen to discuss and answer any questions that you may have.
- The success of this event is assured by the commitment by Irish pedigree beef breeders to show 500 top quality beef cattle. There will be a full range of classes on show from senior bulls and cows to junior cattle, 2 years and under.
- The cattle breeds that will be on display are: Angus, Aubrac, Belgian Blue, Blonde d’Aquitaine, Charolais, Hereford, Limousin, Parthenaise, Piedmontese, Salers, Shorthorn and Simmental.
- The objective of hosting such an event, following significant investment over decades by Irish breeders and the Irish Department of Agriculture, in advancing the genetic potential of Irish beef cattle, is to promote the best of these cattle to an international audience.
- This is an event for people who are serious about cattle breeding, where there will be an opportunity to see the best of pedigree Irish cattle and enjoy your time in our beautiful country.

The Irish Aberdeen -Angus Association and The Azorean Farmers Union are pleased to announce the successful arrival from Ireland to Portugal and the Azores of over sixty pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle. The Portugese farmers group visited Ireland in December 2007 and viewed cattle in herds throughout the island of Ireland. They selected pedigree cattle aged between 10 and 22 months of age from sixteen Angus herds both in Ireland and in Northern Ireland. The cattle were sent from Trim Assembly Centre by road and sea to mainland Europe and then by road to Portugal. |
