Welcome to the website for the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association. Here you will find useful information about council members and duties, show and sale dates and reports, as well as any other interesting events coming up in your area.

The association was set up in 1894 with the principle aim of promoting Aberdeen-Angus cattle throughout the island of Ireland.  There are now 600 breeder members registering Angus cattle with the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society.

April 8th 2014: Strong entry and quality forward for NI Aberdeen-Angus Club store cattle show and sale at Dungannon

Demand was strong at Northern Ireland’s Aberdeen-Angus Club’s Spring Show and Sale of Aberdeen-Angus sired store and finished cattle. The sale attracted an entry of 150 cattle with a top price of 1380. Read more >>>

 

 

 

126 pedigree Angus for Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday 12th April

It s the longest established venue for Pedigree Cattle in Ireland and on Saturday 12th April 2014 the Midland and Western Livestock Improvement Society hold their premier April Show and Sale in the Showgrounds,  at Carrick-on-Shannon.

With 126  pedigree Angus entries, 98 bulls and 28 heifers, it is by far the biggest Show and Sale event for Angus in Ireland this year. Gigginstown House Sale 19th April 12 noon

The Gigginstown House Sale on behalf of Michael O’Leary’s herd takes place on Easter Saturday 19th April at 12 noon. Car park opens at 10.00am with pre sale inspections at 10.30am.

A range of in-calf heifers are for sale from the Liley herd of Marsdens Farms Ltd, based near Sheffield. Delivery to Ireland can be arranged. These home bred females are by noted AI sires in the breed and also include ET-bred females from imported North American lines. A few select, older, cows are also available. March 6th 2014: Carrick on Shannon hits €4200

Some 29 bulls sold at Carrick on Shannon last month for an average price of €2650, with a 70% clearance on the day.

Sale leader at €4200 was Boyle-based Jonathan Maye with his first prize winner Ballykeevican Jacob, a Kingsbrook Emperor son. Read more >>>
